What does an automotive ERP need to handle?
An automotive ERP is the system that ties part engineering, supplier schedules, production lines, quality and traceability together for manufacturers of vehicle components. It keeps multi-level bills of materials and their revisions, plans work orders across lines and shifts, and records the batch and serial history of every part that leaves the plant. For an auto parts supplier, that history is what lets a quality question from a customer be answered quickly.
The processes behind an auto parts plant
The platform covers the chain from drawing to dispatch:
- BOM and engineering: multi-level bills of materials with revisions per part number, so production always builds to the current version while older revisions stay on record.
- Supplier scheduling: just-in-time call-offs and delivery schedules are sent to suppliers in line with the production plan, keeping raw material and component stock low.
- Customer schedules: forecasts and call-offs from customers can be loaded and turned into production demand.
- Production lines: work orders are planned per line and per shift, with resource planning and line balancing.
- Traceability: batch and serial numbers are captured during manufacturing, linking each finished part to its raw material lots, line, shift and inspection results.
- Quality and PPM: inspection plans, defect records and parts-per-million reporting per part number, line and customer.
- Costing: standard and actual cost per part, including scrap and rework.
Lean production with fewer surprises
When planning, supplier deliveries and quality records live in one system, it becomes easier to keep inventory low without risking a line stop. Scrap and rework are recorded where they happen, so the cost per part reflects reality and the causes of defects can be followed up. Documents such as inspection reports or customer specifications can be stored against the part and batch they belong to, ready when an audit or a customer asks for them.
How we build it
We build each automotive platform around your own processes, part numbering and terminology, rather than forcing a generic production template onto the shop floor. It connects through APIs to the certified invoicing or accounting software you already use, and to machines, barcode scanners or customer portals where that makes sense. Live dashboards show output, PPM and supplier performance per line. The platform is designed, built and supported by our team in Sintra, so you work directly with the developers who know your system.
